Using The Original Ice Ball

How do I use The Original Ice Ball maker?

It’s easy! Fill it up with water (or any other liquid you want) – leave a small gap from the top as the water will expand. Put it in the freezer for a couple of hours (overnight works best). Once frozen, pull the two pieces of the ice ball maker apart and take out your perfectly rounded ball of ice. Now enjoy it in your favourite beverage!

Is The Original Ice Ball maker dishwasher safe?

Sure is! 100% dishwasher safe.

Will the Ice Ball crack my glass?

If you lower the Ice Ball gently and slowly into your glass, you’ll have no issues at all.

An awesome way of getting your ice balls in safe and sound is to place the ice ball on a tablespoon and gently lower the ball into the glass. Easy does it!

Why does the water in my Ice Ball overflow after a few hours in the freezer?

When water freezes it expands so when filling your ice ball with water, leave approximately a 1cm gap from the top to allow the ice ball to expand without overflowing.

Why are my Ice Balls not perfect spheres?

The main reason for this is due to the water expanding and causing the top half of the ice ball maker to lift. This makes the ice ball set in a funny oval shape. To fix this problem, ensure you are not filling the ice ball maker with water to the top. Leave approximately a 1cm gap from the top.

Why can’t I pull the Ice Ball maker halves apart when I take it out of the freezer?

Allow the ice ball maker to stand for 2 minutes prior to opening it – this will allow the outside of the ice ball to melt lightly and lubricate the inside of the mold, making it easier for you to pull the mold apart.

My Ice Balls have a funny smell.

This is most likely due to your ice ball maker taking on the smell of your freezer’s contents. Try sitting a plate of baking soda in your freezer to absorb the ‘freezer smell’, and if your ice ball makers continue to smell funny soak them in a warm water and vinegar solution overnight.

Can I use the Ice Ball maker to make other things besides plain Ice Balls?

You sure can! Our ice ball makers are perfect for those of you who like to show off your creative flair! Pack them with mint leaves, basil, fruits, juice, lemon or lime segments. They are perfect for use in pitchers, cocktails, punch bowls, and tumblers. Try them out in iced coffees and iced teas as well. Some have even used them to make candle balls and bath bombs!
